LJAP Program Administrator

    General Summary

      The State Bar of Michigan’s Lawyers and Judges Assistance Program is seeking a qualified professional to fill the position of program administrator. The position is responsible for the supervision of clinical and support staff that provides telephone consultations, education, support, intervention, and assessment for program participants. The program administrator performs and supervises staff in the performance of: completion of comprehensive bio psycho social evaluations and preparation of written summary reports; delivery of limited individual counseling, and making recommendations of appropriate referrals pertaining to substance use or other mental health and wellness issues for lawyers, judges, and law students. This position provides oversight for the LJAP clinical team when formulating and executing contractual agreements for diversionary monitoring in response to referrals from disciplinary entities and other referral sources and, when appropriate, facilitates all aspects of monitoring agreements. In addition to building and maintaining supportive relationships with staff, the program administrator must establish and maintain excellent working relationships with members of the bar and bar leadership, identified preferred treatment providers, pertinent community resources, and court personnel, including the judiciary. The program administrator is also responsible for educational and outreach activities to law schools, Michigan lawyers and judges, and, to the extent feasible, the public that promote understanding about the Lawyers and Judges Assistance Program and educate about issues related to attorney wellness. Moderate travel is required for this position.

    Minimum Position Guidelines (Education, Experience, Knowledge Skills, and Abilities)

    • Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, or social work
    • Current active Michigan licensure in counseling, psychology, or social work
    • Michigan CAADC
    • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in a clinical setting
    • Minimum 10 years of practical experience treating individuals with mental health/substance use disorders
    • 5 years experience treating impaired professionals preferred
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including extensive experience in public speaking
    • Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills
    • Experience for/training in the facilitation of formal family and work place mental health and substance use Interventions is a plus
    • Valid Michigan driver’s license

Database Analyst

    General Summary

      Assists with reviewing, evaluating, designing, implementing, and maintaining the State Bar of Michigan databases. Writes codes for database access, modifications, and constructions including stored procedures. Tests, documents, and debugs software applications. Assists with designing, building, and managing websites and applications that connect to databases. Identifies and resolves performance issues and any database problems in order to provide continuous business operations. Creates database reports.

    Principal Responsibilities

    • Assists with MS SQL server database administration and management
    • Maintains accurate and up-to-date knowledge of database information and requirements for maximizing database potential
    • Supports IT special projects
    • Develops and maintain applications and websites that interact with the databases

    Minimum Position Guidelines (Education, Experience, Knowledge Skills, and Abilities)

    • Bachelor’s degree in information systems or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required
    • Three to five years MS SQL server database experience required
    • Three to five years user support experience required
    • Windows Server 2003, IIS 6, and .NET experience preferred
    • Must be competent to work independently in most phases of SQL database development, .NET coding, and HTML
    • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal service
    • Complex problem solving and critical thinking skills required
    • Operations and systems analysis skills required
    • Ability to follow organizational and divisional policies and procedures
    • Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within SQL, HTML, and .NET required
    • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills in the English language required
